Hi,

Despite not really being a napoleonic wargamer, I bought one each of the British and French army packs a few years ago on an impulse at a show (hey, they were there and looked interesting and you didn't yet have the early WW2 stuff I wanted  :)). I of course added them to the lead pile and mostly forgot about them until just before Christmas, when on another impulse, I decided to give them a go. I've now painted up the British and I'm starting on the French, but I've realised I, of course, need to order more to build the armies I want. Unfortunately, I've lost the tags which told me what was in the packs and I know the contents have changed since then, so I need to identify exactly which codes I've got and, in some cases, what the contents of those codes is...

In case it helps, the British pack has about 125 line infantry, with 5 standard bearers and officers (I assume this is roughly five packs), 35 rifles, 1 general, 20 heavy dragoons, and 4 cannon. The French pack has about 140 infantry, with 5 standard bearers and officers, about 30 grenadiers, 20 dragoons, 1 general and 4 cannon. Also, the figures do look similar to those shown in Nik Harwood's blog here http://nikharwood.pbworks.com/w/page/7825476/NapoleonicMaster, although my French don't have shako covers.

So, without more ado, here is my (longish) list of questions:-

1.  I don't have any scottish pipers, so I assume all my British line infantry are PB1 - there are three poses, march attack, advancing and firing, plus drummers standard bearers and officers. Does this sound right? The latter seem to be in a ratio of 2 drummers/1 standard bearer/1 officer, which I assume is the colour party group. How many of these colour parties are there in a single pack?

2. The French infantry are in three poses, two advancing, one firing. The firing pose and one of the advancing poses appear to be in a coat with long tails, which looks like (I think) the pre-Bardin uniform jacket. Both have cords on their shakos. Neither have covered shakos. I want to identify the third figure as a light infantryman of some description, but I'm not sure whether voltigeur or chasseur. He has a jacket with shorter tails and a shako with no cords. Does this all sound like PF1, or is it a mix of packs?

3. Same as no.1 really, how many flag parties are there in a pack of French infantry?

4. I would like some howitzers. I believe that the British 5.5" howitser didn't actually change from the 7YW, so I think it would do. Do you agree?

I can sort out some photos if you need them...

Hope you can help,

Cheers,
Jim

Hi,

Thanks, but that is the contents of the current pack and these are a good 5-6 years old at least...

The contents differs on a number of points from the current one, so I am unsure exactly what I've got. I'm actually pretty sure with the British, but need to know the contents of the current PB1 pack.

The French are the one I'm more unsure about...

Cheers,
Jim

Dragoon

That Pack was 2 or posibly 3 yrs old.

Hi,

Thanks for your help, but the number of dragoons in each pack (I have 20 as opposed to 15 in the current ones) makes it look more like the ones reviewed here http://www.deepfriedhappymice.com/html/figrev_sy_pend10.html.

This review unfortunately didn't mention any pack codes, but I just found most of the info I need on 10mmworld.com. The French infantry I have are the three poses from PF1 (line infantry, not campaign dress).

I also found a picture of AWB32 on the flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/pendraken/4337161419/in/photostream/, so it looks right, I'd just need the napoleonic crew.

The only remaining question I have now is how many colour parties in a pack of infantry (from the number I have, I'm guessing 1)?

Cheers,
Jim

Leon

The two packs would have been a mixture of the two line codes (PB/F 1 & 7) and the the horse from PB/F5 and the the guns from PB/F3.  The command would be added as well to make it up to around the 150 figures mark.

Each pack of foot comes with a single command unit of 1 officer/1 standard/1 drummer.

We can do the Howitzer with Nap crew if you wanted it.

Hi Leon,

Thanks for that info, I now know exactly what I've got!  :)

I would definitely be interested in getting the Howitzers with the nap crews!  8)  In fact I think I'd go for two packs of those in case I need to make up some more batteries later...

About the command groups, could I ask for a pack or two extra just of these when I order, especially the drummers?  :-\

Cheers,
Jim

P.S. Actually have you thought of adding the howitzers with nap crew as a code to the PB line?

P.P.S In case you're interested, I'm making up the units for the British and French Peninsular lists for Lasalle, so having painted up the British I've got and starting now on the French, I've got some way to go...

We'd probably not be looking to add anything to either of these ranges now, as long term, the new Napoleonic ranges will replace these.

Any changes/extra's you need to make to your order are fine, just drop us an email when you've placed it.

Thanks Leon, I'll do that.

One last question - you will be at Vapnartak, yes? Could I arrange to pick it up there, or is that too little notice?

Cheers,
Jim

Vapnartak is fine, we usually ask for show orders to be placed at least 7 days in advance, so anytime this coming week would be great.
