That if I uninstall Microsoft Edge......It'll just keep coming back and downloading onto the PC ?

I like Firefox......So I'll stick with that.

DElete the symbol from the task bar and and desk top. You can try and uninstall, right click as if shutting down, go to top of menu apps, wait forever, then scroll down to the microsoft area and trym to unistall, should do it ! Have fun

Onlly if you have automatic updates.
I set updates so that I have to tick any updates, in other words, they need my permission to screw up my machine!
I too have Firefox, it's been no problem, why would you need anything else?

Pretty much. Microsoft are pretty insistent when it comes to pushing their sub optimal product and insist that really, this time, for sure they're got it right.

At this point they've given up making their own browser from scratch and have just made a reskinned Google Chrome and pushed it as their own "new and improved" Edge.

They don't seem to grasp that people still haven't forgiven them for IE6.

As to auto updates, they force them now on new versions so you've little choice.

I'll just ignore it. I might take Ian's ideas, and just delete it from the taskbar and desktop.

I'm fine with completely uninstalling things......Had OOODLES of practice when M/S were trying to force Windows 10 on me.
I'm more than happy with '8'.

I'll finally go to '10', when this machine gives up the ghost, and I have to buy a new PC.

No idea why M/S decided to 'give' me this browser this morning.....It's been about for yonks, hasn't it ?

But yes, it is MS, so your basic idea is sound. But just do what Ian said, delete if from the desktop and taskbar, and then ignore it completely.

I had the same happen on my laptop recently, I think they've released a major new version of it, which is why it's popping up in recent updates and being very intrusive.

That was the odd thing  .....It didn't tell me there were 'updates' waiting....It just started 'configuring' when I switched the PC on. ("Oi !...what are you doing ?.....I didn't tell you to do that !  )
Anyway....I've taken your advice, Ian, and just deleted the desktop icon and unpinned it from the taskbar.
I won't bother trying to uninstall it.....I expect it would just keep coming back if I did that.

Microsoft Edge is based on the Chromium open-source project. Chromium forms the basis of Google Chrome.

I neither like, nor trust, either.

I'll stick with Firefox

Besides the MANY trust issues with Chromium / Chrome / Edge platform it is a resource hog and destroys performance.

When we first got this PC, I downloaded 'chrome' onto it.....It just didn't seem to work properly.

I DID uninstall that!

In truth, Ian, I can't remember why I found Chrome such a b*gger to use.....But it didn't seem to want to 'play ball', as far as I was concerned. (I would admit, that I give up very quickly on something if it frigs me about......Life's too short.)

I'd used FF on the previous PCs I'd had......and it never gave me any problems...Which is basically why I went back to it.

While I'm here......What O/S do tablets/phones use ?......I never seem to get what I consider to be 'proper' updates on that.

I swapped to Chrome years ago, because I had problems with Firefox and the blog engine I was using back then. I've had no issues with Chrome so I just stuck with it since.
