Final dry brush done on the current batch and their figure bases have also been painted :) :)

Next batch waiting for the painting rods to free up and the weather to improve enough for varnishing :-w :-w

This will be the last batch of Scots......I will take some pictures of the recently completed stuff once the weather is better......Wellington forecast for tonight is for severe NW gales gusting up to 140km/hr......whoosh.

Then its a matter getting them on the table....finally finishing off Alford scenario write up for DGuy ( :-w :-w)  and polishing up the Dunbar scenario for early next year......large scale doses of real world issues have meant I have pretty limited time for gaming related stuff lately.

Peter, the table is still free.  :)
Understand real world issues, going through a few here as well. If I don't respond when you send Alford, please IM me here. My email inbox is overrun with holiday sales material.

A question for the collective wisdom of the forum...

I'm using ELM14 Peasants mixed weapons https://pendraken.co.uk/search/elm14/ as ECW rabble

The figures are armed with; pitchforks, hoes and a pole mounted cutting implement

During the ECW would these farm implements be metal or would they still be entirely wooden :-\

The club (middle of picture) will obviously be wood

They could be a mix at this time. Personally I would go with what looks good with the colour scheme of the 'rabble'.

d_Guy

Completely agree with Steve. The forks are the least likely to be metal but certainly possible, I believe.

Thanks Steve & d_Guy

I'm planning browns and greys for the rabble so might do they 'cutting' implements metal to add some 'highlights', wooden forks might be a nice reminder of how expensive metal was :-\

I have memories of seeing a lot of wooden farm implements in folk museums; wooden shovels were shod with thin iron strips where they'd need to handle impact and friction, which must have made good sense when metal was expensive.

Picked up the last 3 pike units from Paul but I haven't had time to do much with them yet beyond painting the bases and doing the labels.

Unfortunately a few of the Scots musketeer figures I have used (not Pendraken ones) suffer from "weak knees" and brittily snap off the feet and base from the rest of the figure dispite careful handling during the basing process. Luckily I have a few painted spares left over and the vast majority of the figures are fine.

I did finally finish my Alford write up so I sent that off to DGuy for his comments in due course.
