Tip for tartan : Paint the base colour and add the lightest strips, don't try for the full set. It gives the right impression. On 6mm stuff I don't even try for the stripes, you will only see the base colour. Also most military sets are dark green or dark blue base (AKA Black Watch).

Flocked HQ's & first battalion and did labels for the Regimental MG Company to check look of completed company before doing the rest of the regiment.

Happy so will proceed with the rest when time permits.

Photos? Tutorial?

Kilts have alsways scared the bejezus out of me.

Probably an accidental meeting with a Gordon Highlander whilst we were both slightly drunk.

However, I would like to see how others have painted them. I quite fancy some Highlanders for the Nap Brits, but the kilts put me off.

I'll do some pics when the figures are finished

I followed the advice from others on the forum and did a blue base coat and green stripes. I ended up doing just vertical stripes as there wasn't really room to do even one horizontal stripe

The experiments were finding the colour combinations that worked with the jacket colour, I settled for Vallejo 70.965 Prussian Blue and Vallejo 924 Russian Uniform WWII

Paul kindly showed me the partially completed highlanders last night.....very impressed  ;)

I had hoped to finish basing the Germans that I have today but been diverted with more pressing "real world" issues.

Also learnt (yet again) that the life of a scenario designer is not straightforward....just cause you design it doesn't mean it will turn out how you think it might despite added checks and balances....the German Navy suffered a quite heavy defeat at the hands of the Russian Navy off Gotland in our WW1 naval game last night.....though I'm sure Paul and Roy our host had a wonderful time  ;)

Finally finished my second German 1914 Infantry Regiment so here are some pics....95% of any quedos should go to Paul R who painted the figures for me...great job as usual  :)

The Regiment based for ITLSU. It consists of Regimental HQ, 3 Battalions each of 4 companies of 4 stands plus the separate Regimental level MG company with 3 MG08 stands.

One of the Battalions - To differentiate this Regiment from the other I used GP 24 Infantry in picklehaube, greatcoat for all the infantry stands.

Battalion HQ - I decided to add flags as some German Infantry are recorded as using uncased colours very early in the war.

13th (MG) Company

The three coloured squares are Regiment/Battalion/Company indentifiers.

I have this afternoon finally been able to give them a coat of matt laquor so they are now ready to field in our refight of the Action at Elouges which we will be playing at Call to Arms, the local convention here in Wellington on 5 - 6 August.

Overall very pleased how the have turned out  ;)

Very good looking Pierre (an Paul)! Nice to see them all done up. The flags are a nice touch - a nod to the passing of the old world. Are the flags printed or painted?
Encumbered by Idjits, we pressed on

Impressive - both the look of the individual figures, and the mass of the whole Regiment.

It's interesting to see that the ITLSU force, is remarkably similar to a GWSH force, even though GWSH is a step up in representive scale, with each stand representing a company.

Makes me want to get back to my WWI - too many projects!!
