Lovely work and a true gentleman's painting area.
The artist formerly known as Dour Puritan!

Lovely work but one question... what are the small red 'thingies' some of them are holding above their helmets?

Cheers,
Rob

Rimmer: "Aliens."

Lister: "Oh God, aliens... Your explanation for anything slightly peculiar is aliens, isn't it?

Rimmer: "Well, we didn't use it all, Lister. Who did?"

Lister: "Rimmer, aliens used our bog roll?"

fred.

Thanks chaps.

You're brave  asking a question like that on this forum!

But in the interest of decorum I'll give the proper answer. They are grenades  - the Italian M35 grenades were painted a nice red colour. Perhaps to be like dynamite as seen as supplied by  Acme in cartoons!

Glad to be of help - if some WWII Italians can inspire you to paint Dragonmen, so much the better! But I'd suggest not painting them beige.

I actually wanted to ask if they were sticks of dynamite but I felt that might be pushing my luck... :D
Thanks for the explanation though, I'll never forget that from now on!

Ha ha!

I only found out about the grenades when I came to paint them, and realised that I had no idea what colour they should be. And was quite surprised to discover they were red! Apparently the British called them Red Devil's as unexploded ones had the tendency to explode when moved.

I'm always impressed that i can pick up interesting snippits I wasn't previously aware of....mind you I have to wade through a sea of nonsense to find them! ;D

fred.

Not much painted this weekend, as I may have consumed a beer or 3 too many on Friday!

Did get a few stands of 8th Army infantry finished off, and a couple of 105mm guns for the Italians (all Minifigs).

The Italians are still hoping Generalissimo Leon will supply them with their Semovente assault guns in time for the next big offensive.
