My crisis haul

So i started unpacking my crisis haul. Wasn't going to get much, but got a little out of hand:




As always there was a lot to see at crisis, but this year it was actually hard to see, because the place was very crowded! Some parts were just too much and sometimes even skipped because it was almost impossible to get through! (looking at you bring and buy, wich had almost as much stuff still in shrinkwrap as it had 2nd hand stuff.)

On to the pictures:

Napoleonic reinforcements from warlord games, where it was really crowded. actually stood there for 10 minutes with a box in my hand just to be able to ask for the price of an unmarked box!  Late french line regiment, hanoverian infantry and a blister of hanoverian command to make a second regiment by adding it to my crisis freebie hanoverians i got 2 years ago. also some hobby supplies and the freebie bolt action us marine sprue visible in the right bottom corner. (and a kings of war rulebook)


The great war, a bunch of sleeves and a copy of tail feathers and extra french infantry


two mice and mystic boardgames and a bunch of reaper bones mouslings.




All things considered a good haul. I had preordered the mice and mystics/tail feather stuff as an attempt to draw the boy away from the television/nintendo, so was already in 200 € before i even arrived, so didn't plan on having much more. But...

Then i saw a copy of the great war for 49€ and couldn't resist! always liked how the game looked, and being a fan of memoir '44 i think that's not a bad buy (will base up the figures for normal wargames use too). The warlord stand had everything i was looking for,  was on the lookout for some hanoverians, and can always use more french line! I also  played a game of kings of war lately, for  wich the rules are freely available online, and i liked it. So i decided to buy the book to offer some support ( the least you can do if you like a game+ you get some more extensive armylists in the book)

Lastly the reaper mouselings looked nice and will be painted up to go with my mice and mystic set.

I'll guess this will keep me busy for a while now  :D :D :D

Reaper has only made them in metal i think. I only went with the reaper bones models, with them being handled by kids and all!

Seems i missed one though, i have all but the mousling thief and assassin! In my defence, i had to flick through 100+ blisters while being pushed about in a small space between boxes and racks, so getting 4 out of 5 is good!  ;D ;D ;D

I was there and bought absolutely nothing, apart from a few beers.

Crisis is not a buying show for me.

It's a plane trip, hand luggage only, so not much room for lead.

Besides I see most of my regular suppliers at the nine or ten other shows that I go to every year.

The beer was good though.

Did you get there at doors open? OR later on? I thought it was the most crowded one i have been to.

Nice haul and nice to see the Hanoverain make (another) appearance, I liked your paint job on the first set. Kings of War looks interesting, I have the paperback version of the rules and a historical set are either out or about to be.

Did you have any problems smuggling your haul into the house?
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

I was there at 10 sharp.

It was mobbed but quietened down after lunch.

They had the historical one for sale on the stand actually. But i'll hold that off untill i have played a bit more. really want to know the mechanics before i deem them worthy of historical play  ;D

I was standing in the line at about 9.40.

I had to be elsewhere in the afternoon so would appear i only had the 'mobbed' impression. Feel that the layout didn't do it any good either. Sometimes you have 3 meters between stalls, and like in the bring and buy, you had something of 90cm to squeeze between the tables. Of course it was also a matter of who's stand it was, there were quiet stands, and very busy places like warlord and perry. Still was able to pick up most stuff i liked, except for a buggered preorder. Appparently the guy i ordered the second mice and mystic expansion from, sold it at essen and didn't update his online stock. And then forgot to send me a message that he wouldn't be able to bring it.

Still, enough stuff to keep me busy!

Someone did a conversion for Historical years ago and we've used it the last couple of years at our days out at Kenniel House on the Antonine wall. We put a game or two on for the public and the kids love it, it's easy enough to adapt to keep them interested.

Good to know!

I have read a few reviews, and mostly they are positive, so maybe i'll delve in later. No hurry though
