How many models do You put on a base for a Roman Legion Infantry? Base size - 40mm x 20 mm (warmaster standard)?

fred.

With single based infantry figures like Pendraken - normally about 8 per base for close order troops.

For skirmishers and light troops I tend to go with 4 or 5.

Probably later Legionaries than you have in mind - but giving a couple of different angles - looks like I got 10 on a base here!

This is good news for me as the order I've just got was planned around 8 heavy infantry on a 40 x 20 base  :)

I tend to go with what looks right for the period is how many figures to put on a base. Exact numbers per base is a very 70s/80s wargames concept.

Cavalry alae, one 800-man 1st Cohort and nine 480-man Cohorts (Coh 2 - 10).

Doesn't everyone have that?

No? Oh good, not just me then :)

Amazing! Top display. Thank you for making me feel hopelessly inadequate!
