Another fine effort - great looking! I've meant to mention before that the blue background you choosen for your pics highlights the bases and figures nicely. :-bd

You'll be able to use desert tan when you start on your Belgians (or LoA)  :)
Encumbered by Idjits, we pressed on

This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the beginning of the middle bit that comes after the end of what isn't quite the first bit after the end of the start...memo: speech writer to no. 10 in his hat and coat....

Great work Paul. Figures, especially the Turkomen, look great, if a bit hunched

Thanks all for the positive comments

FK, it really is the beginning of the end of this painting project. I'm onto the last of the six armies and two of the three batches of that army are nearing completion

The fun will really begin in the New Year when our group gets to play with them ;) :)

Again nice work!

I have been watching some youtube videos about DBA 3.0 a few days ago too. Looks like they would play OK.

On the other hand, i have been looking at videos of a dozen rulesets so chances of me getting it are slim  ;D ;D ;D

I'm very pleased with how they play, they are a definite improvement over 2.2 IMHO, particularly for Medieval :)

I finally got round to putting together a report on my first Big Battle DBA 3.0 game that I played on the 23rd, http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,13403.msg222599.html#msg222599

A very enjoyable and challenging game :) :D

Is there much difference in play to the old "original to me" "classic" 1.1 era rules?

Broadly similar but:

  • Movement is in base widths and quite a bit faster
  • Several Combat Outcomes have changed
  • There is less geometric cheese due to changes in the contacting rules
  • Several Foot types are now solid or fast giving different movement and combat outcomes
  • Spear and solid Bow now get flank support further encouraging battle lines
  • There is more information in the army lists

Overall I think it is a better game that feels similar to the original but adds more detail without adding too much

There will be a pause of about a week on this project as I am going down to Christchurch to catch up with my son :)
