Going from Edinburgh to Guisborough when my sister lived there we used to go A68, A167 to go north of Darlington and then on to the A66 through Sadberge and Long Newton which would also take you to Middlesborough.

I usually avoid the A68.

The A68 is a really nice road to drive, we use it when we go up to Hadrians Wall sometimes and some of the views are excellent.  Early mornings and late at night it's usually fine, but during the day you're likely to get stuck behind a lorry and it becomes quite a slow haul unfortunately.

We usually travelled Saturdays or Sundays to be fair and with two youngish kids would be up and off pretty early. The couple of times I've done it recently were both Saturdays and we set off around mid-day and didn't hit too much traffic. The main delay was my insistence on going to Vindolanda, The Roman Army Museum, Housteads and Chester's Fort! Not all in the same trip I hasten to add.

OK, am set up with a couple of chums to come down the A1 past Newcastle, wiggle to the east at Washington and then down the A19.

Come and say hello if you will be there.

Just been doing my recon of the journey route. I believe I know where we're going.

Biggest job was finding out how much the entrance cost is. Couldn't find it on Waugh's website/store. Finally managed to find it by venturing onto Facebook, then piffing about on the Tees Con page (price isn't listed there) and clicking onto a separate event page for Tees Con 2016.

"Tickets £2.50 per Adult & Under 12's go FREE!"

Rimmer: "Aliens."

Lister: "Oh God, aliens... Your explanation for anything slightly peculiar is aliens, isn't it?

Rimmer: "Well, we didn't use it all, Lister. Who did?"

Lister: "Rimmer, aliens used our bog roll?"

David will be attending Tees Con 2016 at Southlands Leisure Centre, Middlesbrough on Saturday. He will be promoting our show, Muster on the Parade Ground 2016, and will have show leaflets and booking forms with him so if you go say hello. For more details of our show visit our website - www.teesshows.co.uk - or our show Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/motpg12016

I met Jim Duncan and Ian (Skywalker) today.   :-h

For sake of completion; late yesterday the Tees Con Facebook page was updated with the entrance fees.

It was good to meet up with Jim Duncan and Roy Williamson. I took a few pictures of our game which I have posted on the Redcar Ironbeards and the GCN Yorkshire facebook pages. The photography isn't brilliant as the hall lighting is so bad but you can get the idea :-[

A reasonably pleasant trip down from Edinburgh despite the odd bit of drizzle.

Took the A1 option, paused for breakfast at Framlington and then continued on down the A19, through the Tyne Tunnel, more of the A19 and then across to the A66, wandered a bit through some roundabouts to eventually find Ormesby Road.

Left Ednburgh at 7am and arrived at the show for 10:15 so quite do-able.

Nice little show. Met Roy and Skywalker from the Forum, had a blether with the guys at Colonel Bills, an even longer blether with Dave Lanchester before buying a book on the AWI and some 7YW French Infantry which I'll disguise as AWI French.

I would have bought some paint triads from Foundry but they weren't there. Ho Hum.

Set off for home at lunchtime to catch the F1 qualifying at 4pm and made that comfortably.

I've found these photos

http://herkybird-richardbradley.blogspot.co.uk/2016_04_01_archive.html

Of which, this one shows both the Redcar Ironbeards' game and, possibly, me in the background talking to Stu (of Col. Bills). To the right of shot might be CV10man?

Foundry are at Cannon, Retford (Notts), today as they sponsor that show. I don't think they trade at as many shows as they once did.

I can't get a link to work for the Redcar Ironbeards' Facebook page, you need to sign in. So, unless Skywalker asks me to delete them, here's his photo's
