They are rather excellent. How do you get such a vibrant blue?

Thank's chaps,

I always paint the base uniform colour the darkest i have , for French i use regal blue then use the nearest actual uniform colour, ( leaving some of the dark blue showing, this makes the next coat stand out ) for this i use Prussian blue ( sounds daft for French :) ) , it gives a good contrast against the dark blue, also using a dark blue basecoat it's more forgiving if you catch the straps etc as you dont notice the overlap of colour when you paint the white on the straps. For the Generals i added a highlight of 80% prussian blue and 20% white just to make them stand out a bit more. It sounds a bit of a chore but it saves time touching up mistakes with black as you go, hope that makes sense :).

I've said it before.......But I just LOVE that particular shade of blue !
It's as though it almost fluoresces.

Wow awesome show of paintskill, you gave a lot of character to thoose minis with that neat painting! Do you apply some kind of wash before making the highlight?
