Lovely armies!

I was going to do something similar with the 10mm Mongols for Lion Rampant. 28mm basing conventions and 10mm figs.

Lister: "Oh God, aliens... Your explanation for anything slightly peculiar is aliens, isn't it?

Rimmer: "Well, we didn't use it all, Lister. Who did?"

Lister: "Rimmer, aliens used our bog roll?"

Was? What stopped you? Mongols should never be a 'was going to do' army! I dunno, some people.  :D

For 2016 I mainly have to get my 10mm New Model Army circa 1650 (the English one) painted.
Will continue to work on battles in Scotland and Ireland doing the Wars of the Three Kingdoms.
And starting a whole new project in 10mm here:

Finnish hobbits could be intended to indicate Moomins, couldn't they?

AGH! Moomins! Somebody was on a strange mix of tablets the day they came up with that cartoon........  :o
Well that went down like a lead baboon......

Surely Moomins are trolls not hobbits?

Also, yes, depressingly beautiful armies Dan :)

So far I've painted 5 palm trees this year :(

10mm allows me to indulge my taste for megalomania with the advantage that the figures sit in the landscape in more pleasing manner than 28mm do, unless you are playing 1:1 skirmish games.

I had originally intended that my 10mm Crescent and Cross armies would just be proxies until I could get some 28mm figures finished but they actually give a better game for this era, especially if you scale up the size of the armies, we currently pay four player games with two Christian and two Arab players per side.  Force sizes are generally very large for Saga, 15 points for the main Christian/Moslem forces and 9 points for their Milites Christe and Mutatawwja allies.

However, using the excellent crescent and Cross rules they play easily on a 6x4 table in less than 3 hours with the added advantage that the individual forces offer very different playing experiences.

To return to this subject of this thread  :o I shall be expanding my Crescent and Cross Armies to include Spanish and Moors (using Normans and Arabs) as well as getting the Byzantines involved.

Still have them, and still want to use them. I just don't want to commit to Lion Rampant and then find how I've based them impedes their use as no one else plays LR.
I also thought about using the figures for Warband, but I've that much other stuff on my plate at the moment it may take a few years to get around to it.

Wow thats a beautiful army. SAGA Crescent and Cross you say for the rules? How do they play? I shouldn't be asking, I might end up getting tempted to change eras and do some medieval instead of making myself work on my already existing lead mountain, but I have to ask anyways!

Paulr,
Thanks for checking out the new project and the comment on storytelling. Great storytelling is why I am following your epic building of the trenches and looking forward to the storytelling that will take place once they are in use in the game :)

Very well,  the basic rules cover movement, combat shooting etc. but strength of the system is their use of very different army profiles and abilities controlled by allocation of SAGA DICE n the faction's Battle Board.

The Crusaders are very much about building up their faith based abilities early on in the game before using the abilities to launch overwhelming attacks while the Saracens are more subtle in their abilities to ware down and distract heir opponent.

Hopefully I'll be able to expand my new 10mm ECW collection this year.  :-X
