Great stuff and I'm 110% with you on the visual impact ,firmly of the "paint what you can see" mindset here ;)

A fella asked on the Yahoo 2mm group about Tricornes and if they were sculpted on a certain code, told him no and what would be the point when at even 1 foot away you can't really see the flesh
dots used for faces.Sitting at a table and viewing the opposition across a 6x4 table gives about the same view a general would get viewing from a mile away. Who expects Tricornes at that distance ?
Don't think he gets the concept of 2 mm  ;D
The beaty of them is that you can use the 'blocks' for whatever you want!

;D  =O

Too true!  If they're not in close order/sat on a horse/have an obvious shield, in 2mm you're lucky to be able to work out which way they're facing, let alone what they've got on their head  8-}

...or sometimes if an individual has even got a head...  X_X

Which reminds me, I must finish the bases on my first lot of ancients and maybe order a few more warbands/armies worth!

Cheers,

Meirion

(I know, even though it's fantasy  :o  ;)  )

No Peter I don't think he got the idea :)

I agree with Kodiakbear, really like the over-all effect, plus you can do really big battles! For me at least the whole point in doing this is playing with them. Hope you'll post pics when you have them in action!

Will probably be a while, as i still have to make a battlefield. (i'm guessing they'll drown in my regular green fleece throw)
I'll try to remember and post some when i do!

I'm probably gonna put a mark on their bases at the rear for easy identification and facing  :-\

You should have offered to convert some for him, he would have never noticed the difference.  ;D

Yup, definitely a good idea. For Dux Bellorum I'm thinking differentially coloured front edge for troop type/grade and side edges for warband affiliation.

I'm concidering coloured lines at the back, 1 line light infantry, two lines line infantry, same for light and heavy cavalry.

Just found my old, as yet unpainted, Spanish renaissance 2mm army pack, complete with tercios. Maybe I should get a Dutch army to go up against it.

Since basing 2mm figures has just come up in the "A Tale of Four Gamers" thread, can I ask how you've done yours. I really like the texture and colour effect you've achieved.

So, what's the secret?  ;)

Cheers,

Meirion

Basecoat of vallejo dark earth stone texture on the base, drybrush with vallejo earth and then gw kommando khaki. Then splats of goblin green and highlight the splats with camo green.
