Question for Techno

Hi Phil,  I know you have sculpted the M74 66mm LAW in the Falklands range. I am hoping to scratch build and convert some post war figures (the LAW was around from 1963).

I was going to use a Pendraken prone figure from WW2 range, and make the tube from thin sprue with a cut down staple superglued on as the very elementary ramp sight.   The armed or extended tube is around 34ins.   To allow a certain caricature for the weapon to be recognised, I was thinking of making it 6mm in length .  Does that sound about right?

Hi James.

To a great extent make it 'look right' to your eyes.
If you can, make your LAW, a fraction too big/long to start with...so maybe even 7mm.

Pop it up against the figure you're converting (If necessary hold it place with a tiny bit of blu-tak) and see the effect. If it looks too long, you can 'nick' bits off with a scalpel until you get the 'look' you're after.

Hope that makes sense.

Weapons (guns/rifles/bazookas) are things we often have to mess around with size wise......To make them look right (And fool the eye.  )

Many thanks for the prompt and detailed response.  Yes,  the dichotomy between 'to scale' and recognisable in 1/150.

And thanks for the Bluetac tip.  I have used it to secure heads but can see the application would work just as well with weapons.
