When I ordered the model I didn't realize how small FT tanks are.

They are very small, I stood next to one in the Musee d'Armee and it's hard to believe people managed to get inside it.

you know what would go nice as a steam tank? The T28. Bit chunkier than a FT17.

To be fair the GW Warmaster Steam Tank isn't that big really.

However, how about the WW1 Holt's Tractor as a base?

Leave off the canvas roof, add plasticard armour plates to sides, rear and top and arm it with a gun of choice!

That or the Whippet?

OK, I'll fall for it.

Where can I get a Warmaster sized Whippet?

Char 2C. Wasn't that steam powered anyway?

OK, bait being nibbled ...

Anyone got a pic of a Pendraken Whippet or a Char 2C for that matter with some 10mm infantry for scale.

Or perhaps even measurements, metric please, width, length, height, that sort of thing.

Hi

Or how about the traction engine with armour added:-

The Char 2C is a monster, don't have a pic with figures but this real life one gives a good idea of scale to humans:-

Pic of the Whippet, Mark IV and Schneider which nobody else has mentioned (the vegemite is not mine):-

Some pics of the Pendraken Whippet, sadly the one with the Whippet and FT have them almost out of shot but it gives an idea of the size difference.

I reckon adding a short funnel where the rectangle (top front) is and replace the MG bobbles with large muskets or small cannon and you have a workable steam tank.

Thanks Mike, your suggestion is noted.

I can also see an armoured car with its front wheels and mudguards removed, replaceg with a single (Reliant Robin) wheel, shaped armour plates round the side and back and an Empire gadgie waving from the turret.

Thank You GOM

An idea is slowly condensing in my mind. I need to get my hands on a suitably scaled model to let my modelling fingers feel the width.

If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

fred.

Some very cool ideas.

The Empire steam tank is actually wheeled not tracked. But don't let that stop the imagination. The holt tractor might work well, especially as it already has a funnel.

The wippet model would be a great base, but might be a bit big for a 20x40mm WM base. I'll dig one of mine out in a bit.
