Your 'green stuff' feathers are so much nice than my 'milliput' ones on my 'ersatz Empire knights'.

:) Your feathers do lay a little more naturally than mine.  Especially on my knights some of them stand a little unnaturally.

I am thinking about adding shields to mine at some point, are the ones on those knights ones you made yourself?  Or did they come with the models?

Nice work on the feathers, they look very good, and really give the Empire look to the figures.

The ECW figures work well for pistolliers - probably better than the LoA ones as they have a bit more armour.

That's crackin work with the green stuff! Really good :)

Thanks gents!  I am excited to see how they will turn out with some paint on them.

Very nice wok, Tiberius !  :)

Painting over green stuff can sometimes need an extra (thin) layer of primer 'slapped on top'...... but mainly only if you use white.
For some reason the green can sometimes show through. (Only really relevant if you're going to use a 'light' colour as the 'top layer'.

Thanks for the tip Phil!

I am hoping to paint their horses white, so I probably will need another thin layer of primer on the whole model anyways.

Soon I will need to buy some cannons.  I was hoping to get actual GW cannons, and found a good deal on eBay, but sadly they never got mailed!  I was refunded but I'm still pretty sad about it.

So I'm looking for the best GW replacement cannons now.  There are a lot of renaissance cannons to choose from, but I'm not sure which one would work best.  Thoughts on which one matches best?

Sandinista

Don't know if it matches but the bombard in the Ottoman range is beautiful

The GW ones are wheeled, Sandanista, but those Ottoman ones are very nice models.

I'd go for either the heavy guns in various Renaissance ranges (seems to be the same gun with different crew) or alternatively the 12lber in the League of Augsburg range with perhaps ECW crew? The latter would be something non-standard and would need to be worked out with Leon and Dave.

The originals looked like this:

The Landsknecte guns and cannoneers might well do nicely -

The shields are part of the original Kallistra figure.

The LoA guns are more in the style of the empire ones - right down to the decoration on the barrel but don't come with gunners. Leon might be willing to do a pack of Landsknecht gunners if asked nicely.

Compared to the Landsknecht guns I think the ones in the Scots/English Renaissance range look more appropriate, and again ask for a Landsknecht crew. I like the way they have thick rope attaching the barrel to the carriage.

I like that suggestion - I would probably mix in the Landskneckt crews with the English/Scots crews to give that indeterminate period Empire look.

The actual LAN guns are pretty dinky - the GW ones are huge! But the Ottoman bombards are massive, I based them on 60x40mm bases to get the gun and crew figures on, but they are super cool.

Yeah, the landsknecte guns are quite small - that's a 80mm by 40mm base with plenty of scenic bits and three plus crew fitted fine!

Thanks again for all of your help in my little project, it is quickly becoming not so little.

Just got my next order of pendraken in!  It includes some Medieval Monks, Flodden French Crossbowmen, 16th Cent. Scot short pikes and a couple other rag tag items.  I'll show those once I get them "Warmasterized"

But here is my first stand of ECW cavalry as Empire Pistoliers.  I still need to do a little touching up, but I'm pretty happy with them.
