Contemplating "Nery" after the Elouge game in WI...so:

German early (pickelhaube) cav packs - typically what proportion in a pack don't have the lance?

AND

I'm sure I saw masters for 1914 Highlanders (kilt and glengarry) - what happened to them?
French '14 Hussars - would FP1870 types pass muster as substitutes?

Thanks in advance...

After a little search there is a pic of a highlander here:

There is also an entry in the catalog, but without picture, so maybe Leon can tell you wich one that is:

You may find these two threads interesting, we did Nery recently using If The Lord Spares Us by Too Fat Lardies

The following German early war cavalry codes are all lance armed, except for 3-4 officers per pack:
GP3, GP42, GP43

GP45 Dragoons has a 50/50 split

Nery is definitely an interesting action and you end up with a couple of interesting forces

The Highlanders have been moulded up this past week, so I'm hoping to have those ready for release before the end of the month.  The French Hussars should be fine I'd think, we've supplied them to other WWI customers previously.

You could probably get away with 1870 French hussars (in kepi) as 1914 hussars/chasseurs. In reality the 1914 troops had a stiffer kepi (officially), but they did have the skirted tunic with braiding, which the 1870 figure has. This particular figure is charging energetically.
