Well, I'm not sure how to sum up my reaction to GW ditching Warhammer as we knew it for 'Age of Sigmar'. Shock probably best describes it. For more detail see below:

I'm going to be stocking up on some paints this week just in case it all goes Pete Tong.

I do not know what to say. Never played WHFB, but played warmaster in this setting. Now the setting is gone. It does not matter too much for me. What I like is warmaster system. I could play the system in heroic fantasy, plain fantasy, GW fantasy, historic, tolkien fantasy, etc...

Ironically, now there is another force: the sigmarites, and models similar to this concept in 10mm is cover by the angles of magister millitum.

Been following this the last couple of weeks (even bought the latest WD  :-[). I can see what GW are trying and well I don't think its all bad. The warhammer world was beautifully visualised and created over decades, I grew up with it so I m sad to see its loss but its still there as an historical setting.
The new mini's look great and I'm tempted to buy the new box set even though I haven't bought any GW for eons. However the background fluff and rules are just a bit pants. I'm no gamer but the rules seem simplistic to the extreme. Maybe it the Hail Caesar/Black powder approach, no points, no set in stone rules just have fun, but I don't think it'll work for GW (power) gamers.
Might be great to introduce my son to wargaming though.

From the orcs and goblin warscroll:

WAAAgh! horns
Models in this unit may carry Waaagh!
Horns. You can add 2 to the charge rolls of
a unit that includes any Waaagh! Horns,
but only if you bellow 'Waaagh!' when
rolling the dice

Nothing for me im afraid, i played warhammer for the look of rank upon rank of fantasy soldier and mighty heroes leading their regiments. If i want golden pansies flying about with white wings, i'll buy 40k blood angels, wich have a similar look.

This is how a warhammer army looks for me,it's my smallest but the only one i have a picture of that i can find:

Ithoriel

Stupidly expensive figures, dross rules and and a background "reboot" that makes no sense to me and which seems to exist only as an excuse to make more new, stupidly expensive figures.

I'm glad I do my fantasy gaming in 10mm these days!

No points system ?
Did I read that correctly ?

So basically, whoever's prepared to spend the most money on an army, wins ?

I think we're witnessing the last desperate thrashing of a dying behemoth, they've finally realised that they really cant have yet another edition of that bloated monster call Borehammer so here's the result. Sorry GW, epic fail.

Which all goes to prove you cant polish a turd

In five years time Warhammer will be released as the 'all new singing and dancing thing'

I think its worth noting that Mantic are really pushing hard to take those WFB players GW just kicked in the teeth.   ;D

Given that Mantic is basically run by the people who used to make GW a success, this makes me laugh.   :D

Yep. Mantic's emails over the weekend were particularly funny.

They nicely merged the American Independence day and WHFB themes

Well, we knew it was coming... Brave new world and all that. Warhammer for me is stuck somewhere between weird skirmish-semi roleplay 1st ed, comedy 2nd and some actual big battle 3rd and, errr, whatever it was when we restarted for a year or two what's now probably ten years back!

So this is a bit odd and slightly retro but not feeling.

Well i watched a battle report for the new rules, and found it very dull.

Now idon't want it to fail, and some people will like it, i'm sure they will, but i just can't comprehend why they would do this.

As a side project (like dreadfleet etc..) i would understand it, but as a replacement for warhammer, that i don't get. If you want to play skirmish battles like that, there are enough decent rules in that category out there with wich you can still use your warhammer models anyway.
