I'm curious, why are all the figures at the back of the base? I would have tended to base them in the middle

The basing is very effective by the way

I prefer basing in this way to get a large area in front of the figures. By doing so, I can add elements like rocks, bush, grass ... I used 30mm x 30mm bases.

I didn't mean it as a negative, the troops look great.

I was only asking because that's a lot of work; I'm assuming you used two 'normal' four-man strips, then cut another one up into individuals and added one to the each flank of each rank?  Looks great, but too much work for me!
