No I don't mean the rap artist (that is "rap" with a silent "c"), but ... well let me go to a curtain dissolve and with some harp arpeggios (or is it glissandos?) take you back to how I remember it happening ...

Postie: Sorry Mr FSN, but I was just wondering if you could sign here?
FSN: I don't normally have to sign for my Pendraken goodliness
Postie: Oh no! It's not that, I just want your autograph. (canned laughter)
FSN: Why certainly, you rapscallion. I would tousle your head, but you appear to have no hair. (canned laughter)
Postie: Would you like to meet my sister?
FSN: Well indeed not! For then there would be two of you I would have to avoid. (canned laughter)
Postie: Oh Nobby ... sorry FSN ... sorry Mr FSN, you're such a wheeze!
FSN: Why thank you.
Postie: Tell me, Mr FSN, do you still use egg white in your paint?

Well that's the way I remember it.

The little scamp's last remark made me think. Use egg white in paint? Something is scratching at the back of my and it's either a dim memory, or it's time for the powder again. So what do you think chaps?

Funny thing is, Nobby......That sort of rings a bell.

When we used to get sent off to do painting demo's in some of the GW shops, we'd often hear 'strange' tips that folk wanted to impart.
I have to say that we tended to ignore the vast majority of them, because they sounded a bit 'off the rails'.....Or downright unsafe, especially for youngsters.

There was one, a 'how to strip' paint from figures.....Never tried that one, though it may be quite genuine.
Another one followed an article in WD.
"Ooooh...you shouldn't put that in the magazine."
"Why ?"
"Well...if someone did 'X' to that...Such and such would happen."...BAD !!

The likelihood of anyone actually TRYING, or even thinking about doing 'this' was about as likely as me winning the jackpot on the lottery, two weeks on the bounce....unless we put it in the magazine with "Don't whatever you do, try this."

You could guarantee there would be some idiot who would give it a go and probably burn their house down ! X_X
(I must give it a go one day........Outside.....The 'physics' does sound genuine.)

Do I mix it until it gets still or just go for it?

Oh ... Wiki says add a few drops of water.

Do you think there will be a bit of a yellowish tinge?

What do you do with all the yolks?

So, Techno, ole buddy, ole pal, does your phenomenal memory remember anything about GW using eggy paint? I must check my 1970's editions of Military Modelling.

This is SO annoying !

The answer's lurking, somewhere in the organic hard drive....But I just cannot find the folder it's in.
I'm more convinced than ever there was one chap......Who often came out with 'pearls of wisdom', who mentioned this. (I won't repeat his nickname. :-[)
For the life of me I just cannot remember if he used something to mix with the white...Was it water....And Acrylic paint..

AAARGH !!

Give it a whirl, Nobby ...But not on something precious, in case odd things happen with the paint.

If you DO try it.....I'm sure my dear old Mum used to use a lot of egg whites for cooking 'something'...and saved the yolks in a basin.
From what I can remember, 'strangled eggs' made with just the yolks, were really scrummy !!

From memory the egg white was just used as a binding agent for the ye olde pigments used way back when and it helped said pigment stick to vellum
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!
