What models to buy to create a Volkssturm battalion?

I'm currently trying to decide if I do BKC in 10mm on a small scale or 6mm on a larger scale

Personally I'd recommend 10mm. I've played Cold War Commander in 6mm, and whilst the tanks etc are ok, it's a bugger to differentiate troop types one on the table. 10mm also looks better as a game for WWII IMHO.

I agree on both counts Steve but I know I'll end up fighting bigger and bigger battles and, 10mm is both considerably more expensive and needs loads more storage space.

At the club we play 10mm on a relatively large scale.  Just make sure you have lots of terrain.

I think that applies to any "Warmaster" based game.

I'd mix in some WW1 Austrians and Serbs, VBCW civilians in flat caps (BR154), SCW militia (SCW10) and Boers without the hat brim upturned:-



But that's just me  .

Ihave shown it before and i'll show it again, these are my BKC armies. I originally wanted to have two 2000 point armies to play against my buddy'sforces. Guess i ended up bigger too
