I think barbarians must be the least useful description in wargaming. Whom does it exclude, from some viewpoint or other?

People who shave?

And yet the target audience - those interested in Fantasy battle games - understand it perfectly.

Good points!

Barbarian in a fantasy context has a specific meaning that is lacking in the historical context.

That's not of course limiting players in making theor 'barbarian' army look pretty much how they like.

Goblin figures for Necrons Dogs as 'barbarians'?

Tygra fire and ice... delicious!

waiting fo recieve the ruleset, read it and the choose the army to build

AndyT

Or, if you are like me, receive the rules, read them and be even more confused because you want all the armies !

AndyT

I still haven't had the chance to play a game of Warband yet but I've been looking through the army lists and trying to work out how the different armies might play.

The undead look very interesting - low Protection but high Motivation so easy to damage, hard to kill (?) but boy are their commanders expensive! I wonder if a horde approach might work - lots of cheap units - quantity over quality?

Really I'd like to try all of the armies out  :D

I'm with you Andy, normally there is a faction or two that sticks out but with Warband they all have appeal and you can get quite a variety with what are relatively simple lists.

because 10mm are quick to paint I'm thinking of putting together small armies for each and then focus on what I have enjoyed painting and playing with the most...or just whichever has the best figures...or some other criteria  :-/

Do Troll Centaurs feature anywhere?  ;) :P

One of the armies I have on order are the old Centaurs to which I am adding Troll Centaurs, most probably use as 'allies or mercenaries' initially, and then trying to work out some house rules for a complete Warband of Centaurs.   :D

They're not listed in any of the armies currently, as they were an odd little conversion done more for fun really.  We may add them to the new ranges at some point, but that would be some way down the line.
