I used to own a spar convenience store. But I've been a salesman for 50years and the rules are the same no matter what you're selling.

Pendraken sells army packs at £28 also their own rules/army packs.
DBA 3 is a good set of rules and would be a good way of doing army packs, but you would have to work at it because it doesn't say in the rules, "how to base 10mm. Figures for DBA", because your pack size is in figures is 30 inf. or 15 cav. There is over supply of figures for what are essentially operational level games.
Thirty figure packs fit battalion level games, not the new game rules where where the basic manoeuvre unit is a brigade fortunately ACW Fire and Fury, also Napoleonic Age of Eagles and FoG-n will fit in fact most horse and musket and. Pike and shot games will work wth little figure fig wastage.
When we get to ancient and medieval rules that cover big battles, DBA, DBM and DBMM they don't have battalions.
The element or base is the basic unit, so take a Seleucid Army,

<big snip>

Of course this applies to any Macedonian and Soccessor Army with various alterations
Like I said, catering to modern needs can be difficult and needs some work

As always though, if people have got an army list they want to fill, put some catalogue codes on it, drop it over to us and we'll sort out the figures for you.

8)

This means that all you need to tell Leon is what figure code you want to use for each element and how many figures per element and they will happily work through the army list and bag up a special army pack just for you.

Those of us who have been around here a while know how good the Pendraken service is and will happily ask for two different sizes on guns with crew from a different pack or other even more bizarre combinations. This contrasts with a lot of other suppliers but I suspect Leon and Dave don't realise how unexpectedly good this service is.

This is something that should be made clearer on the website for Pendraken newbies,
QuoteEach pack contains: 30 foot or 15 cavalry or 3 guns unless otherwise shown,
orders for part packs are very welcome, please email...

This is something that we should keep very quiet about in case Leon and Dave realise and up their very reasonable prices to compensate.

Fixed it for you :)

I think we got away with it I don't think they noticed .... o centurionem totum ... Hello Leon ... writing? ... me? ... err .... just "Romanes Eunt Domus"  :)

What prompted my FoG posts was a conversation with someone at a show last year(Derby) he wanted to do FoG rather than DBMM (my favourite) he couldn't work out a list because the lists gave a definition but not a picture.
He wanted to take and paint, not wait for an order so I told him to buy an army book from Caliver pick an army and go to Essex stand because they did starter armies. But he wanted 10mm.
So I told him to go to magister Militum because he caries a full range with him.

Good.

Fast.

Cheap.

Pick two!

Pendraken's system works for me. But then my lead mountain is so vast I may be affecting the spin of the planet! On the other hand I'm never out of things to paint.

I can see an increase in 10mm. Use in DBA DBMM and FoG armies because of cost, ease of painting but to get this purchasing bonus you have to realise that when a gamer see's an army on the table say late roman, he wants to look at the list write it down and buy the figures.

If he waits till he gets home he'll look at this immense lead pile, look out some legionaries and start painting. Once he's painted 3 dozen legionaries the rest is easy and he'll stay with 15mm.

I've done that with Brits and Prussians.

Agreed.  PD may not be the fastest,  they aren't that slow either,  but their customer service is EXCEPTIONAL
