The models look really great but I think there is a slight problem with the AMX-13 because the turret looks like it's set too far back (unless that is the photo angle playing tricks on me). The front of the turret ring should be level with the rear of the second front wheel. As it is it looks like the Scimitar's dad.

Interesting comparison Resaider Singh. Well observed. You are correct - the AMX is not quite right, is it? Whilst, I don't think the angles with regard to the turret are condusive to a true comparison, for me, the position of the fan on the engine hood is more conclusive. On the real example, this is above the first and second wheels. On the model, the second and third. A pity 'tis, 'tis true (but I will not go so far as saying, "a foolish figure"). Alas, the world of miniatures is full of distortions and inaccuracies (out of proportion heads and hands, bayonets as long as the miniature's legs [yes, AB and Eureka, I'm talking about you], etc.) but, overall, its not a bad sculpt, is it? I suppose we just have to decide, is it so inaccurate that we don't want to have it or will we buy this because its the nearest representation we can get to an AMX (and if anyone points out the inaccuracies, we can proudly point out that we know)?     :) :-B:)

Or you could mention the sculptor is a friend and even though there is a minor mistake he does a marvellous job, even after recovering from a massive tumour...

I was always fascinated by the AMX13 because of it's weird two-part turret.

As to the model being inaccurate. Will it look right on the table? I suspect so. I don't think you'll be laughed out the wargames club for fielding grotesques.

On reflection, I should have known, considered and then mentioned Mart is a friend of yours and that he has just recovered from a massive tumour.
I'm new to the forum and did not realise how crucial these two facts were to this minor matter ...

I would be happy to have the AMX even though I know it is not quite right. I would have thought that would have come through by my comments. Sheesh! Its a toy tank in a very small scale. If I worried about small inaccuracies, I would have to throw out at least half my collection. As I said ...

Friend Singh and erm ... Westmarcher were making an observation.

I think they were done with respect and in good faith, and should not be too castigated for that.

I propose that Pendraken send a free ... no, three free samples of the AMX13 to everyone who has posted on this thread so far.  That way we can all make our own minds up, as there is no substitute for the real thing.

If that works, I have a list of things wrong with the Sho't. A long list. At least a squadron's worth of gripes. - FSN

Think we have enough in the vehicle range for a 1973 affaire ... but as has been said in many places, we could do with some modern infantry.

Is anyone close enough to Techno to go do his chainsawing for him, so he could knock up some figures this afternoon?
