Thanks Jorge.

I've flicked back through the posts myself in the last couple of days - its quite interesting to see when I actually started working on some projects, and how long some stall for, then get another burst of activity.

But I'm not quite done for this year yet!!

Mongol Foot Archers
These chaps have been super fast to paint up - probably the lack of horses  ;)

I also found the Flodden Foot Men at Arms in a drawer - so have got a few more colours on them, which suddenly makes them look a lot more complete. So should get them stuck on bases shortly.

Thanks chaps.

And Paul, it must be 2016 for you already, so Happy New Year!

Flodden Men at Arms

So a change from light stuff, to some proper heavy metal.

These chaps managed to get stalled for a good few weeks - but when doing the Mongol foot, I have managed to get the last bits of these chaps done. Not really sure why I have only done 3 bases worth of troops. But its a start.

2017 Paint-Off - Winner!

Time to wrap this thread up.

Looking back at my aims / intentions for the year, they were largely ignored   :o

The only one I really made any progress on was with my Lizardmen army - which is largely complete, I have a few more infantry to do, and a bit of jungleification of bases but they are certainly playable - now to just get them on the table!

Gaming wise last year was a bunch of un-expected twists. Perhaps the biggest (or should that be smallest) was Epic Armageddon. Which my group decided to resurrect, I had missed EA the first time round, so was starting from scratch. I built a Tyranid army - largely from 3rd party models. It was good fun collecting and painting this army - it also had quite a steep learning curve on the table. But we did learn how to win - and by the middle of the year were winning a lot of games. I have recently added a Space Marine army, which is nearly complete, and have started collecting Squat forces - which are really just at the purchasing stage.

The next was Warband - which I grew to like, after not having taken to a preview copy the year before. I assembled a large number of sabot bases to allow use of my existing fantasy figures, and added some key units to my existing armies to give them more Warband options - I was even able to field a Dwarven army with a few tactical purchases.

28mm ended up taking a big chunk of the middle of the year, Perry WotR, Frostgrave, Saga Crusades and DAK for CoC - ultimately while I really like building the plastic figures, I find painting them hard work - and a lot of these figures have not progressed much past the base coat.

Through the year we have been working on our home-brewed fantasy mass battle rules - we seem to have the command and combat mechanisms fairly solid now. But are still trying to sort out the magic - and the balance of different armies. This has been a very long process - and has been quite a slog at times.

The year ended with a burst of 10mm activity with a bunch of different units painted - which was good - it reminded me what I like about painting, after the slog of 28s.
