I didn't mean finish a project. That never happens there is always something new to add.

I meant finish a unit, or even just a base.

I have for too many partially done figures / units / vehicles. Where it really wouldn't take to much effort to get them out of the in progress pile into the ready to play box.

... Having loads of in progress stuff isn't helpful I find. It's much better to have bare metal and finished.

...
I need to take Paul's advice and pick something and crack on with it.

But which one? Empire or Lizardmen probably.

Couldn't agree more, one of the reasons I only have 6 painting rods ;)

Very sensible.

No but I have PayPal, and access to the Internet.

Just to increase the madness, I received a nice collection of 28mm Dark Age figures ( and the Saga Cresecent and Cross book) from a chap over on LAF, today.

But I have managed to delay get C&C for over 6 months, but couldn't resist nearly half price. So now I have to work out some crusader armies to field. Definately thinking of 10mm for this, with multiple figures per base.

I've neatly side stepped the full painting stick issue, by painting up some flag markers for our home-brew rules.

We decided we needed a marker to show where a formation was being ordered towards - and I had a rummage in my bits boxes and found ones for several armies

Paintings about 75% done, and basing is obviously still to do. (sorry for the blurry photo).

I'm pleased with how they are coming along, and I am pleased with the results of grey base coat, these are some of the first 10mm figures I've done with grey base coat (the aircraft where grey base coated too).

The WWI aircraft are nearly finished - I'm just waiting on some decals, some of which I'll pick up from Leon on Sat.

Pop along to Phalanx this afternoon - picked up an order from Leon

A bunch more Warband sabot bases, and some figures to round out a couple of armies (and some WWI bits)

Also picked up a box of Fireforge foot sergeants - I've been looking at these figures for a while, and with the upcoming release of Frostgrave that was enough to get a box.

The figures are very nice, and should mix in well with other plastic sets for more variety.

Also picked up a can of desert yellow spray paint for the Perry DAK infantry.

I quite enjoy building plastic figures - takes me back to when I was a kid and making model tanks and planes. And having the proper tools makes it so much easier than a pen knife and a tube of glue!!

But you are right, 10mm where all you need is a quick once over with a file, and the whole unit is ready, is great.

I've made quite a bit of painting progress over the weekend - and took advantage of some early evening sunlight to take a few photos. Using the proper camera for the first time in ages, rather than quick snaps with the phone or iPad under the desk lamp.

Overview

The various bits I've got in progress at the minute
1/300 Aircraft, WWI & WWII
Command Flags - Lizardmen, Elves, Empire and Araby
Roman Bolt Throwers
Giant Sand Worms
Empire Lancers & Guards (still on a painting sticks)

I've already freed up 5 painting sticks, and there are two more nearly done in this photo.

WWI Aircraft

These are pretty much finished - just need a coat of matt varnish on the German ones. And I'm waiting on some larger roundels for the BE2

And the undersides (I think on the Junkers a spare magnet has stuck on)

A comparison with the a Hurricane

Ta ML - I'm really pleased with these - they have come out very nicely for not too much effort.

WWII Planes - British Desert Airforce

I'd thought these were finished - but I need to paint the magnets over in Azure so that they blend in a bit more.

And as a change of pace

Commanders Flags
These are largely done apart from some decals for the Empire flags, a bit of script on the Araby ones, and something (but I don't know what) on the Lizardmen

Late Era Roman Bolt Throwers

These guys don't really add enough to my force to make it playable - but they have been on painting sticks for years, and there weren't that many figures to paint and get an end result. These are a bit of a kit bash - Imperial Roman Bolt throwers, mounted on washers to give them a little more height, with various light troops from the Late Roman packs with slight tweaks to arm positions and weapon trims to make crews.
Basing obviously needs doing.

Giant Worms

Another quick win - these will be added to my Mongol forces to give them a fantastical feel for taking on Orcs and Elves!
