A few colours blocked on to the 28mm WoTR mounted archers - this is why I like coloured base coats - they are already starting to look half-finished.

Going for a blue and white livery on the mounted archers. Not sure which colour(s) to use for the crossbow men, I'm thinking they are European mercenaries, so don't have to fit with English liveries (I know as mercenaries they may well have not worn a uniform colour, but it makes painting easier, and makes the unit easier to identify on the table!)

Bit of a change of direction (third in a week!!)

For the game on Friday I need more 'tank' tyranid bugs - so needed to get a bit more paint on some

Got dark red on all 10, only seem to have got brown on 9 for some reason, and managed to get sand on 3 (the two based ones are to remind me what I am aiming for!)

More different stuff this weekend.

Played Epic Armageddon on Friday night - the freshly painted Tyranids did as badly as all other freshly painted troops  :(

Painted up some more small Epic gribblies and did some detailing on the bigger ones.

Also painted some small (1/300th) aircraft to accompany my 8th Army Forces - these were may first go with Halfords Grey Car Primer - and I like it!!

Thanks chaps.

These were both super quick projects - the Tyranid bugs are largely just dry brushed. And the aircraft have been very easy to paint with fairly thin paint over the grey undercoat, need some decals now.

What make were the aircraft, Fred?
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

Oddly enough there's a can on the shelf behind me ;)

Looks good - bad luck on the 'Nids first outing  :o

With the Grey Primer I always give it a wash of watered down shade wash to highlight all the fiddly bits
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

fred.

The planes are Heriocs and Ros. I've had them about 18mths, and these are first to get paint on. I got a wide selection as a present from my wife a couple of Christmases ago.

These will probably get a wash to shade and blend the paint.

I've got some troops sprayed grey, might give them a wash before painting, to see how it goes.

Impressive stuff Fred  :-bd Especially your WW2 collection  :o

I have never tried it myself, but I heard guys talk about that stuff regarding foliage sticking to trees: http://www.plastidip.com/

Cheers

fred.

Thanks Szymon - need to do a bit of finishing off on the WWII, but now it is getting on the table again, there will be some impetus to get on with things.

The plastidip product looks interesting - not sure what texture it will leave the trees, I suspect a bit like a ball of rubber? But hopefully the latest 'regrowth' will last for a good few years before I have to worry about their foliage again.

TP - generally the 'nids are doing fairly well in Epic games. The ones they struggle in are the ones versus IG who have come prepared to stand back and shoot - and then have space to fall back further when they are attacked. We have managed to win the odd one of these games, mainly because the IG have been so defensive they forget they need to contest some objectives on the 'nid side of the table.  The first few games were a struggle when we had too much infantry and not much else, but as the armies have expanded then the games have got better. I'm still less than convinced that the Epic points are remotely balanced.
