I bought these rules off Wargames Vault the other day and had a bash at them tonight.
As with all new rules, it was a bit clunky to begin with but as the game progressed we got a bit faster.
We ran it with the figures as they are based and it worked.
I am rather pleased and for $7.70 not too pricey.
The interesting twist is that it can be used with a Victorian Science Fiction with the initial HG Wells invasion being thwarted the colonial powers have  begun to use the ALien technology for their own....

THe scenarios in the rules are:

1) First Battle of El Obeid - Dec 1881 Egyptian vs. Ansar

2) Second Battle of El Obeid (or Hick's Folly) - Nov 1883 - British lead Egyptians vs. Ansar

3) First Battle of El Teb (or Baker's Teb) - Feb 4, 1884 - British lead Egyptians vs. Beja

4) Second Battle of El Teb - Feb 29, 1884 - British vs. Beja

5) Battle of Tamai - March 13, 1884 - British vs. Beja

6) Siege of Khartoum - ~May 1884 - Ansar sieging British lead Egyptians

7) The Battle of Abu Klea - Jan 17, 1885 - British vs. Ansar

8) The Battle of Kirbekan - Feb 10, 1885 - British vs. Ansar

9) The Battle of Tofrek - March 22, 1885 - British vs. Beja/Ansar

on the whole I am really pleased with them... I might tweak them a bit but on the whole they worked well.

Just don't ask me about the Egyptians fighting off the Hadendowah charges twice :-[ :-[ :-[

Surely the Ansar and Brits are just as lead as the Egyptians??

Is that a leading question? Incidentally this fundamental mistake crops up over and over again in wargames literature. Wargaming - the home for the grammatically challenged?

I like the rules though :)

In fairness, English spelling is so silly that one should really save one's scorn for those who disregard grammar, lexis, punctuation, and Aztecs, ohwhatagiveaway!

Lord Kermit of Birkenhead

Yet again the "A" word....

Got this in my wish list on Wargames Vault.

You can not disregard my Gramma cos she's dead. :d

Anyway, alittle bit of Jules Verne, H G Wells, dastardly Prussian rocket scientists etc, sounds a bit of a laugh.

Steve I thought they seemed familiar and have realised that they are very similar to Martian Empires. In fact they are practically the same rules.

Leman

Could there be a twin Earth?

Is that an electrical term twin and earth?
