Hi All

I came across this when I was looking for other stuff and I thought it might come in handy for Colonial types:-

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-DIY-TOY-ASSEMBLED-TOY-Paddle-wheel-electric-assembling-model-new-arrival-2013-southers-equipment/2035416849.html

Here's another that has free shipping:-

Now I haven't seen it, or dealt with the company or even Aliexpress before but it looks like it might come in handy for those looking for a colonial type ship. It's even motorised  :D. If I can get some of my other stuff painted and based it might even end up somewhere on the Yangtze  :D.

Cheers

Be warned that I've had unpleasant and expensive encounters with Chinese sellers, getting very wrong stuff in huge quantities. And if it's tricky calling the Royal Mail to account, think about trying to sort things out on the other side of the world.

 ;D

The length some gamers go to when they can't paint water.

Seriously,  I was thinking that minus the paddles it would fit nicely into 20th century up until the 1940s. Keep us posted if you acquire one.  I would love to know if it is true 1/150 as claimed.

I also note the product is described as 'diecast' - Hmmmm ....not the most buoyant material.....but hey OK on a table

Yes I've had those experiences too. My first move has been to contact the reliable Chinese sellers I've dealt with before to see if they carry or can carry this kit. I've also contacted the Aliexpress sellers to see if they also have Paypal.

Cheers, I'll let people know how I get on with this.

oooooooooh Shiny .......

would be interested to see how you get on and hopefully it isn't diecast as it will be a sod to cut to a waterline level.

Sometimes I wonder - why is that frisbee geting bigger - and then it hits me!

My god, its a footlong (hot dog reference) but seriously how many tables are you gonna be able to fit a 12" long boat onto?

Lord Kermit of Birkenhead

Well we did one 6mm CWC game based on the coast of Norway, complete with Arnheim bridge, and Oil Rig, and we were looking to do a 1/300 Iowa, befroe cost intervevend, mind you it were a big table. So a foot long paddler would be no problem.

It's not what you do with it, but how big it is  ;D ;D ;D.

Seriously, a ship this size would be used as an objective, entry point, exit point or reinforcement access rather than a continuing integral gaming piece. Also useful as an artillery support unit. I've used the Zhong Shan for most of these roles (18" base)

Or maybe just as eye candy, it doesn't have to move  :D

Looks reasonably uncluttered, time for a stirring bayonet charge down the deck!

Hello All

Couldn't get anybody to play with me so I'm getting the ship from Aliexpress using a debit Visa card.

Adventures in Aliexpress

Day 1 - 19/11 China date - Paid for ship. Got an email saying that payment had been successfully made but with this rider:-

'Currently, your payment is "Being Verified". Payments are usually verified within 24 hours. After verification, the supplier will begin to process your order.
During this time, you are unable to do any operation on your order. '  :-\ :-\

Will let you know how I get on.

Cheers
