We didn't bother with Alnwick Castle for that reason.  I get that Harry Potter was filmed there, but £25 per adult to access the castle and gardens was far too much.

Alnwick is just about ok. Though last time we got 1 adult & child ticket for the castle, and the same for the garden, then swapped around. But this was a second on third visit. The castle still has enough castle and military stuff to be good, the Harry Potter bits are just extras. And the gardens are really nice in their own right.
