Greetings

Having bought a sample pack some months ago I am starting to consider a small ACW game (and yes I am still painting 10mm SYW and have some Napoleonics in the queue as well!).

1.  Which types of artillery piece do the ACW army packs come with?
2.  Is there any intention of doing an early war 6pdr gun?
3.  Do the dismounted cavalry come with command?

Not to put a damper on things but it was decades before a decent 15mm 6lb ACW gun appeared on the market.

1. If I remember right, the Union packs come with the 10lb Parrot gun, and the Confed's come with the 12lb Napoleon.

2. No plans at the moment for extra artillery pieces unfortunately.  We compiled all of the various requests we'd had for the ACW and got the designer to produce almost everything in the one go.

3. The dismounted don't contain command, but we could put some in from the various command packs if you wanted.

Thanks Leon.

I shouldn't need 6pdrs much - just for some early war.  There was a reason that the armies stopped using them quickly!  I'm sure I can proxy or some such.

If I get an army pack I'll have plenty of infantry command spare.

From the various scenarios I've looked at, especially in the western theatre, I'm not at all sure that the 6lb gun was abandoned that quickly. For example the Stones River scenario in Regimental F&F calls for 4 Union 6lb sections and 2 Confederate 6lb sections. That's a total of six 6lb models for a battle on December 31st 1862 - 20 months into the war. Even the Gettysburg scenario has one section of Confederate 6lb. I really do not think the 6lb gun should be written off if a range is intended to be used at regimental level.

There is a TMP thread on the subject which is quite interesting http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=233848 - these tend to reinforce Dour Puritan's points :-)
