Winding down after a full busy day working on the diorama with about 20 other Wargamers and about an hour long chat with Alan Perry in the pub afterwards

I think I can safely say it was MORE than it promised to be  :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

We are limited in what we can say but I will point you all at the official teasers etc once they are posted ;)

And will post some more pictures of the rest of the figures when I have finished the last 20 :!! :!! :!!

Didn't get a chance to do a wash on these tonight but should get a wash done before heading back to Weta Workshop to do some more on the diorama  :D :D :D

Today was a series of jaw dropping moments as more and more of what we had and are doing revealed itself...


  • the diorama as we first walked into the workshop
  • more and more of the diorama as we walked around it
  • even more of the diorama once we got to see it from above
  • thousands of 54mm figures arrayed for checking and sorted by pose type
  • the diorama as more and more foliage was added
...

Apologise for the limited amount I can say but we all had to sign a non-disclosure agreement

I can reveal that there will be over 5,000 figures on the completed diorama :o

I was hoping to link to some of the approved photos that were taken yesterday but they have not been uploaded yet  :(

As noted in the official post one of the many impressive things was the way that the figures painted by over 100 different painters from all over New Zealand blended together

I was lucky enough to spot some of the figures I painted, the red fez helped ;) These were some of the 10 I had taken over from one of our team that had fallen ill. I think I spotted a couple of others but am not sure.

One of the guys unpacking figures, by chance unpacked some of his own and put them with others in similar pose. A few minutes later he looked for them to show someone and couldn't find them :o

There really are that many figures ;)

I'm heading off to Weta for the second day in about an hour so have grabbed the chance, while the wash dries, to upload and process the photos I have taken of the figures I have painted so far.

Our team decided not to add blood at this stage as there was no mention of it on the painting guide and it would be easier to add it if required than remove it if not :-\
